Peak and off season: When to get the best deal

Hong Kong enjoys a sub-tropical climate making it a pleasurable destination any time of year, however monsoon rains in summer (June to Sept) can occasionally wreak havoc on outdoor sightseeing plans. This is also the hottest time of the year to visit, with daytime temperatures exceeding 30 degrees. With this in mind, travellers looking for the best fare deals, might want to consider the summer months for a getaway. Even if the weather is foul for a day, there’s still lots to see and do in this massive global city.

The peak travel time in Hong Kong is in winter (Nov to Feb). The weather is cooler and dryer and the holidays are in full swing. Hong Kong flights are usually most expensive around Christmas and Chinese New Year, but there are still ways at finding a cheap fare. Booking well in advance is one way to snag a cheap fare. If booking last minute, consider mid-week travel, or a flight itinerary that includes stops in other Australian or Asian ports. Low fare airlines such as Air Asia X and Hong Kong Airlines also depart from Australia. These airlines offer consistent low fares even for last minute bookings. Another option is to book a low fare airline to Singapore or China. Once in Asia, there are a host of low fare airlines flying to Hong Kong.
