Sydney as transit or stop-over destination
There’s a reason why Sydney remains one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. An international city with glamorous charm and appeal, Sydney’s beauty is reflected in a million ways. And best of all, the city’s easy to use network of buses, trains and ferries ensures that visitors can get around easily and cheaply. Stations and terminals are located all around, giving visitors the ability to visit each of the city’s top landmarks and attractions.
For first time visitors, there’s no better place to experience Sydney than at the famous harbour landmark, Circular Quay. With the Sydney Opera House and historic Harbour Bridge, few locations are as picturesque. From here, ferries come and go, and a short trip to Manly is the perfect way to enjoy spectacular city and harbour views. Once there, visit the northern beaches or relax with a delicious meal or cup of coffee. Circular Quay ferries can take you across the harbour to Taronga Zoo too.
If you don’t have time for a ferry ride to Manly or the zoo, take a walk into the CBD where you’ll find beautiful Hyde Park, several museums, incredible shopping on and around Pitt Street Mall, and beautiful Darling Harbour. A destination in itself, Darling Harbour, on the CBD’s western edge is also just a short walk away. Here you’ll find the Sydney Aquarium, lots of restaurants and shops, and a fascinating replica of Captain Cook’s 18th century sailing ship, the Endeavour, which can be toured at the Australian National Maritime Museum.
